Mónica Trujillo is a Research Fellow at SEI Latin America and is currently the project manager of SEI’s Governing Bioeconomy Pathways Initiative, articulating the work done in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She leads the implementation of research and execution of bioeconomy projects at our centre, especially in Colombia, Guyana, and Cuba.
Her professional experience is related to sustainable development strategies based on green economic growth, value chain management, and biodiversity conservation. She has worked in agribusiness with smallholders and enterprises to foster market intelligence, business plans, and connections with public policies in Colombia and Argentina. She has also worked on the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity in protected areas and strategic ecosystems based on strengthening local, regional, and national governance, articulation with multi-sectoral public policies, and agricultural conversion to more sustainable systems in Colombia, Ecuador, and Perú.
Mónica is an economist with a master’s degree in Agribusiness and Food. She also has a postgraduate degree in International Cooperation and Project management. She joined SEI in August 2020.
