Aaron Maltais is a Senior Research Fellow at SEI HQ and Head of Policy and Road Mapping for the Secretariat for the Leadership Group for Industry Transition, which is hosted at SEI. Aaron has twenty years of experience working on a broad range of topics related to climate and sustainability transitions. He has extensive experience leading research, managing initiatives, and engaging with private and public actors. Hi focus in recent years has been on green transitions within industry, sustainable finance, and ‘just transitions’.
From 2018 to 2023 Aaron served as the Programme Director for the Stockholm Sustainable Finance Centre. This centre was hosted at SEI and run in collaboration with the Stockholm School of Economics.
Aaron’s research background is in climate justice and the political economy of climate change. He has a far-reaching understanding of the technical, economic, and political pathways needed to effectively reduce emissions. He has a PhD in Political Science from Uppsala University, Sweden and also holds the title of Docent from Uppsala University (Associate Professor level). Aaron also has a BA honours and MA in Political Science from the University of Alberta, Canada.
