Jane Birch

Jane Birch is a communications and impact officer at SEI Headquarters within the Project Communications and Impact division.

Her role is to drive impact for the work of SEI through communications plans, providing strategic advice to SEI researchers to help maximize the global influence of their research.

She works with the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) on communications for the Secretariat in partnership with LeadIT members. Jane is also part of the communications team for MISTRA Geopolitics.

Before joining SEI, Jane was a Senior News Editor for BBC England and has extensive experience as a journalist and strategic leader.  As a programme maker she produced documenataries and news features covering a range of topics.  She was also a pioneer in the field of video journalism.  She has a strong interest in technology and in particular how generative AI can be used in an ethical way to support communication and empower communities.

Jane has a bachelor’s degree in media studies from the University of Westminster and a master’s degree in international journalism from Södertörn University.
