Ngongang Danube

Ngongang Wandji Danube Kirt is a Research Fellow, Data Science and Air Quality Management at SEI Africa.

He is an air quality analyst with diverse research background in energy efficiency in built environment with a focus on clean energy solutions to address the lighting and cooking needs for municipalities including in informal settlements, and  inclusive frontier technologies to improve access, coverage and quality of basic services such as energy,  water and sanitation, and air quality data management.

Ngongang has 6 years of project and research experience in conducting empirical (field-based) research on air pollution control, energy, transport, housing, and infrastructure sectors. He has worked in West Africa (Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana), Central Africa (Cameroon) and East Africa (Kenya).

He previously worked at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) where he served as an international consultant with the Global Environment Monitoring system (GEMS) Air Quality Unit within the Science Division. At UNEP, he was responsible for providing technical support to countries on air quality instrument installation and operations, and data management and analysis. He has supported the establishment and management of air quality monitoring networks in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Senegal, Costa Rica and Peru. Ngongang has also worked at UNHABITAT on the project: “Promoting Energy Efficiency in Buildings in East Africa” which aimed at mainstreaming energy efficient measures in housing policies, building codes, building practices, and building finance.

Ngongang holds an MSc. in Electrical Engineering (Telecommunication Option) from the Jomo Kenyatta University Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Kenya where he was a recipient of an Africa Union Commission Scholarship, and BSc. in Electronics and Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria.

A native of Cameroun, he is fluent in French and English.
