Tania Santos is a Research Fellow and leader of the Water research team at SEI Latin America, based in Bogotá, Colombia.
Tania has extensive experience working in water management, mainly in Latin America and with international cooperation. She has developed research projects to improve data-driven decision making, participatory methodologies and tools to improve stakeholder participation. She has participated and led several projects in SEI to improve the use of information in co-production processes, to develop watershed plans at different scales (subnational, national and transnational) using innovative methods, tools and incorporating gender equity, social equality and inclusion lens.
Her interests in research include how to improve decision-making processes to ensure ecosystem health and functions to guarantee services as water supply in term of quality and quantity, by integrating modeling tools and local knowledge, and developing innovative strategies to adapt society to new conditions of a changing climate.
Tania holds a PhD in Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia and a BS in Civil Engineering from the same university. She holds a Master’s degree in Water Resources from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
