Anderson Kehbila is the Programme Leader for Natural Resources and Ecosystems at SEI Africa. Before this appointment, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at SEI Africa under the Climate Research for Development (CR4D) Programme funded by the African Academy of Sciences.
Anderson has 16 years of experience in climate and energy policy research, energy systems modeling, sectoral decarbonization, sustainable agriculture and forest management, market and value chain analyses as well as innovation and entrepreneurship. He has written 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and professional reports on these thematic areas of research.
Prior to joining SEI, Anderson was the Program Director for Environment, Climate and Natural Resources at EcoXergy Solutions, Canada. Previously, he was a Regional Scientist on Agricultural Systems Intensification with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has worked in Germany, Canada and several other African countries where he researched, consulted and collaborated with several international NGOs, multilateral and private sector organizations including Felber and Associés, AWF, ICRAF, UNDP, USAID, AfDB, World Bank and Natural Resources Canada.
Anderson seeks to support evidence-based policy making by engaging regional stakeholders to provide African governments with the information and tools they need (low-carbon and air quality economic models, quantified simulation scenarios, transition pathways and indicators) for monitoring and evaluating the roll out of low-carbon and air quality policies and programs in the energy, industry and transportation sectors.
Anderson holds a PhD in Environment and Natural Resources Management from the Brandenburg University of Technology, Germany and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Simon Fraser University, Canada. He is a certified Service Organization Energy Manager by Natural Resources Canada, a certified Occupational Health and Safety Professional by the OSHAcademy, Oregon, USA, and a certified Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Reporting Professional by the US Department of Energy, USA. He is currently embarking on a Certified Energy Manager course offered by the Association of Energy Engineers, Atlanta, USA.
