Gustavo is a Research Associate at SEI Latin America. He develops studies and monitors different projects in water resources management and strengthening of entities in the water sector, applying different numerical simulation tools for water systems such as WEAP, as well as support for the development of decision-making support systems.
Gustavo has almost 9 years of experience in technical assistance and project management in the water resources sector in Bolivia. He has been a professor of postgraduate subjects in different Bolivian universities, as well as courses related to numerical modeling in water resources. He has been part of the Institute of Hydraulics and Hydrology in projects related to the management of water resources from strategic water sources such as Andean glaciers with the support of the Japanese cooperation agency (JICA). He was part of the Ministry of Environment and Water of Bolivia in the area of planning and management of projects and programs related to the water sector. He was a technical consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), to support policy reform programs in the water resources sector in Bolivia.
Gustavo has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Mayor de San Andrés University from Bolivia and a master’s degree in regional planning in civil engineering and environment from Tohoku University, Japan. His master’s thesis focused on the application of optimization processes for the operational management of water distribution systems for the metropolitan area of La Paz, Bolivia.
