Madeleine Fogde

Madeleine Fogde holds a broad background within the educational field. She is the Programme Director for Swedish International Agricultural Network Initiative (SIANI) and the team lead for the agriculture, land and bioeconomy team at SEI HQ.

Before starting at SEI in 2007 Madeleine worked extensively during two decades with program development, information dissemination, capacity development and adult learning in Southern Africa with focus on Mozambique.

Her experiences with capacity development ranges from illiterate women in remote rural areas to politicians at central positions.

At SEI Madeleine has been directing Sida financed Research, Outreach and Development program like the EcoSanRes program 2007-2011 and SIANI 2011 to present.

She has covered a wide range of topics, including sanitation, sustainable agriculture, food security, poverty alleviation, water supply, and women’s rights. She is part of a major worldwide network for agriculture, sanitation and women’s organizations.

In 2015, Madeleine was appointed as a fellow (member) of the Kungl. Skogs- och Lantbruksakademien (The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry) .

In 2023 Madeleine was appointed appointed honorary doctor at SLU’s Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences.

Madeleine is now a member of the Swedish FAO committee, the board of the World Wildlife Fund in Sweden and the board of Vi Agroforestry.
