Cristo Facundo Pérez holds the position of Research Associate at SEI Latin America. He supports research and applications in water resources planning and decision-making.
Cristo is fascinated by issues that intertwine environment and development in Latin America. For eight years, he has supported water planning and decision-making in Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia. His recent experiences relate to developing water resources systems to evaluate comprehensive indicators on regional river basins, evaluating the vulnerability of urban water systems from a river basin perspective, and formulating river basin planning by building decision support tools.
He also has practical experience in agricultural water management and water quality evaluation. His research focuses on improving the articulation of water planning and land development. Other areas of interest are participatory modeling, serious gaming, and storytelling.
Cristo is an agricultural engineer and holds an MSc. degree in Water Management from UNESCO-IHE, Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands. During his MSc research thesis, he analyzed groundwater management practices to deal with droughts and water scarcity.
