Dr Andrew Noble is an SEI Affiliated Researcher with SEI Asia. He works as the Programme Manager for the LIFT Program in Myanmar. Prior to taking up this position, Andrew was a Senior Research Fellow at SEI leading the development of the SEI Asia research strategy on agriculture and supporting the development of the SEI Asia Myanmar country strategy.
Included among the many positions he has held during his career are Deputy Director General of Research at the International Centre for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA), based in Amman, Jordan, Director of the CGIAR Research Programme on Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE), Senior Research Fellow with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Research Programme Manager for the Land and Water Resources Programme at the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), and Regional Director for IWMI in Southeast and Central Asia.
Andrew has also held the positions of Principal Research Scientist with the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Organization (CSIRO) in the Division of Land and Water, Project Leader and Principal Research Scientist with the Institute for Commercial Forestry Research, and lecturer in the Department of Crop Science, University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
His career in agriculture spans over 40 years and includes research and academic assignments in South Africa, Australia and Southeast and Central Asia. Andrew holds a PhD in Agronomy from the University of Georgia, USA. His research career has largely focused on the rehabilitation of degraded production systems.
