GAP Forum

The GAPF-EI tool is a formulation of methods and assessment of good practice related to the compilation of emission inventories required for the development of effective policies and programmes to protect public health and the environment from the harmful effects of atmospheric pollution.

The project, co-funded by BOC foundation, U.S. Environment Protection Agency and Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency), produced a report which summarized the results of a study comparing existing international emissions inventory approaches. Those features appropriate for countries with less developed capacity in inventory compilation were identified and the recommendations incorporated into the Global Atmospheric Pollution Forum Air Pollutant Emission Inventory Manual and its associated Excel Workbook – jointly referred to as the ‘GAPF-EI tool’. Both manual and workbook were updated in May 2019, to bring the methodologies and default emission factors into line with current literature the most recent (2016) version of the EMEP/EEA Emission Inventory Guidebook.
