weADAPT spotlights youth and intergenerational justice

The new Youth and Intergenerational Climate Justice theme is a dedicated space that showcases and supports young people’s climate adaptation work through weADAPT, SEI’s pioneering, collaborative adaptation platform. The theme features information on key, related issues, and provides links to opportunities such as courses, events, fellowships and funding.

The reason for establishing the new theme? As Alice Chautard, weADAPT platform and content manager, put it,   “Today’s young people are emerging as incredibly resilient and powerful agents of change, bringing fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and urgent leadership to the climate movement. This new theme stems from a recognition that we need to do more to support, showcase and amplify their work, listen to their innovative ideas and learn from their leadership.”

The theme already contains a wide variety of resources, such as

weADAPT has recruited a global team of editors for the new theme:

  • Michael Boyland, a former SEI Asia Research Fellow, who is now at SOAS University working on a  PhD on youth climate activism
  • Sylvain Djérambete, with the International Student Environmental Coalition-Chad
  • Natalia Gomez Solano, Wageningen University, and founder of Costa Rica Youth & Climate Change Network; Wageningen University
  • Raisa Moola, Climate Development and Knowledge Network (CDKN) South Africa
  • Matilda Noble, a University of Oxford master’s student and current SEI Oxford intern
  • Minh Tran, SEI Asia Research Fellow
  • Angélique Umutesi, Loss and Damage Youth Coalition
