Conference: Developing infrastructures in Africa that are resilient, greener and inclusive

This year, the African Transport Research Conference will take place in Cape Town, South Africa under the theme ‘Powering Change: Developing infrastructures in Africa that are resilient, greener and inclusive.’ Dr. Gary Haq and Prof. Steve Cinderby will present their research on creative participatory approaches for inclusive climate resilient transport in Africa.

This conference is a gathering of policy-makers, academics, practitioners and researchers who focus on inclusive and climate resilient transport infrastructures in Africa.

Dr. Gary Haq and Prof Steve Cinderby from SEI York will present a paper on Using Creative Participatory Approaches for Inclusive Climate Resilient Transport in Africa. This research summarizes key concepts around transport inclusion, participation, and climate change and introduces selected creative methods that can give a voice to disadvantaged groups.

Through the support of the High Volume Transport Applied Research Programme (HVT), funded by UK Aid, the conference is dedicated to researching sustainable transportation development.

How to attend

This pre-conference event is free to attend and serves as a precursor to the first African Transport Research Conference taking place in Cape Town from 5-7 March 2024.

Please note that this event will be a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation.
