Zoha Shawoo

Zoha Shawoo is a Scientist at SEI US, working in the Equitable Transitions program.

She joined SEI Headquarters as a Research Associate in April 2019. Her research primarily focuses on the intersection between climate change, inequality and sustainable development.

Zoha is part of SEI’s projects on policy coherence between Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement, which explore synergies and conflicts between climate goals and SDGs, with a particular focus on inequality repercussions. She also works on climate finance, including loss and damage finance and climate finance coordination in developing countries, and is acting as SEI’s point person for the Green Climate Fund.

Prior to joining SEI US, Zoha conducted policy-relevant climate change research for various think tanks and research institutes such as SEI Oxford, Climate Law and Policy, the Oxford Environmental Change Institute and the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, and has also worked with the environmental sustainability team at GlaxoSmithKline.

She holds a MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom. Her master’s thesis was a critical evaluation of climate justice framings within the polycentric climate governance regime in Pakistan. Prior to this, Zoha received a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom.
