Yani Wang

Yani Wang works at SEI Headquarters on sustainable production and consumption of agriculture commodities in the Global Agendas, Climate and Systems Division. She is program manager of Trase, a partnership initiative that maps the international trade of soft commodities and its associated environmental impact. In addition to coordinating across the collaboration to help meet the program objectives, she actively engages in policy discussions, initiates and sustains partnerships, and facilitates program development. She also plays the role to boost project impact by identifying the most effective impact pathways and enhancing program adaptability to them.

Prior to SEI, Yani served as a policy and program coordinator at UNDP China, during which she facilitated the establishment of a bilateral coordination mechanism, authored flagship policy reports on low-carbon development, and coordinated high-level policy dialogues and international forums. She has work experience from UNESCO’s World Water Assessment Programme and consultancy firms in the climate area.

Yani holds a MSc in Development Studies from SOAS University of London and BA in Southeast Asia Studies from Beijing Foreign Studies University. She speaks English, Chinese, Thai and Lao.
