Arno Rosemarin has a multidisciplinary environmental and natural resources background with specialities in management of aquatic biological resources and fish habitat, human impact on coastal zone marine systems, eutrophication, limnology, aquatic toxicology and climate-smart agriculture.
Arno completed his PhD in 1982 at Queen’s University, Canada on the nutrient kinetics of coastal algae. His MSc at Univ of Ottawa (1974) examined indicator attached algal communities downstream of sewage treatment plants and pulp and paper mills.
He worked from 1974 to 1982 at the Canada Department of Fisheries and Oceans, from 1982 to 1986 at the Baltic Sea Laboratory in Karlskrona, Sweden, from 1986-1990 as Editor-in-Chief of AMBIO at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and has been at SEI since 1991 as Communications Director, Manager of the EcoSanRes Programme and Senior Research Fellow. He has been a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science since 2009.
He has carried out projects in Canada, Sweden, India, Germany, China, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Bulgaria, Estonia, Moldova, Burkina Faso, Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, Cuba, Senegal and South Africa and has published over 100 scientific articles and reports.
