Mistra Co-Creating Better Blue (C2B2)

Mistra Co-Creating Better Blue (C2B2) is a collaborative project for a more sustainable blue economy in Sweden. By bringing together researchers, decision-makers and the private sector we will co-create innovative solutions for better ocean governance.

Active project

2023

There is an urgent need to radically change the way we think about and use the ocean, away from a narrow growth-based approach towards a more sustainable blue economy. Mistra Co-Creating Better Blue (C2B2) contributes by facilitating co-creation processes involving researchers, decision-makers and the private sector. The aim is not only to ensure that decisions can be made based on the best available science, but to generate new knowledge and leapfrog science-based ocean governance in Sweden.

SEI will be leading Living Lab East, one of the three Living Labs where new ideas can be explored and tested. Over the course of four years, we will focus on how ocean governance can be strengthened along southern Sweden’s East coast.

Funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research (Mistra), the Co-Creating Better Blue programme connects 11 research institutions with 20+ other stakeholders such as municipalities and industry actors. Together, we can find innovative ways to gather additional data and pilot alternative solutions for ocean governance. Learn more about Co-Creating Better Blue (C2B2),
